Winners of the Autodesk Education Build Something Student Design Challenge is now posted. The challenge ran from February to June with a total of 177 design submissions received from around the world. The design challenge included categories for Architecture and Civil Engineering with winners selected in each category. In addition, there was a Sustainable Design category.
The winning entries were impressive. Andrew Southwood-Jones of Narrabundah College in Australia, won the Architecture category as well as the Grand Prize for the General Categories for his UniCube prototype - a digital model of a green campus residence designed using Revit Architecture software. By incorporating BIM into the design process, Andrew designed the UniCube to feature aesthetically pleasing spaces tailored for student life, renewable construction materials and green building technology, including gabion walls and rainwater recycling.
